NBA Power Rankings – Top Ten Teams

With the NBA playoffs right around the corner, let’s take a look at the best in the league. Here we have our latest NBA Power Rankings with just a month left in the regular season.

1. Los Angeles Lakers
Even though the Lakers have slumped slightly as of late, they still have the league’s most talented roster to go along with the best closer in the business. If Andrew Bynum can return healthy, the Lakers will have to be the favorites heading into the postseason.

2. Cleveland Cavaliers
Right now, the Cavs have the best record in the NBA. They are 30-1 at home, although their one home loss came at the hands of the Lakers. LeBron James is playing better than ever and Cleveland definitely has a chance to win the whole thing.

3. Boston Celtics
The defending champs are dealing with a bit of the injury bug at the moment. That said, if the Big Three can be on top of their game in the playoffs, the Celtics are very capable of winning back-to-back championships.

4. San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio’s patented defense has been on display as of late. They are still vulnerable to athleticism and their best players are now injury prone after all the wear and tear, however they have more experience together than any team in the league.

5. Orlando Magic
When the Magic lost Jameer Nelson, many NBA pundits thought their season was over. The Magic instead have been able to keep their ship afloat and they remain a very dangerous team. When their shooting gets toasty from the perimeter, Orlando becomes almost impossible to beat.

6. New Orleans Hornets
The Hornets have had to deal with a lot of turmoil this season. Thankfully for Hornets fans, the team appears to be heading in the right direction now. Chris Paul is the best point guard in the league and there are enough quality players around him for the Hornets to win a championship.

7. Houston Rockets
The Rockets have been able to play like a team ever since Tracy McGrady was lost for the season due to a knee injury. Yao Ming is now the main focus of the team, although Ron Artest is starting to blossom as the second go-to player.

8. Portland Trail Blazers
The young and talented Blazers are ahead of where most experts believed they’d be at this point in their development. Even with an oft-injured Greg Oden, the Blazers are a team that nobody wants to face in the first round of the playoffs.

9. Denver Nuggets
The talent in Denver isn’t in question. What is in question is the team’s chemistry. The good news is that Chauncey Billups has championship experience and Carmelo Anthony seems to genuinely want to become a superstar.

10. Utah Jazz
The Jazz have been running hot and cold for much of the season. If they can get 100% healthy at any point before the beginning of the playoffs, the Jazz would have to be considered a top six or seven team in the entire NBA.
