NBC Direct Competes with NBC Hulu. Badly.

NBC Direct

What’s worse than competing with yourself? Answer: competing with yourself badly. Right after NBC and Fox launch their crappy streaming site Hulu, NBC launches their equally crappy download site NBC Direct.

Why is NBC Direct just as crappy as Hulu? Let me count the ways:

1. US-only.
2. Requires Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer 7.
3. Downloads self-destruct after 48 hours.
4. Episodes taken down after seven days.
5. Requires proprietary player download.

NBC fails at online video. Again.
