NCAA tourney Day 1 – early thoughts

It is 3:45pm here at Tournament Central, and I figured I would give some early thoughts on Day 1 of the NCAA tournament before the night session started:

- The true Cinderella story of the tournament, Georgia, is heading home, which is a shame. I thought the Bulldogs were peaking at the right time and could have made some noise. And for one half, they did make some noise. Unfortunately for UGA, their lost their legs in the 2nd half and allowed Xavier to come back to life. Even though they were bounced, UGA’s run through the SEC post-season tournament is a story for the ages.

- I was shocked to see UNLV hold Kent State to 10 first half points. Kent State is a better team than that. Same goes for Baylor. Going down 47-26 at the half was disappointing to say the least.

- Pittsburgh is going to shock a lot of people in this tournament – nobody is really talking about them (except Bobby Knight), but I really like them.

More thoughts later…
