NEC’s ultra widescreen beauty

Got an extra $8k burning a hole in your pocket? Why not pick up a CRV43 ultra widescreen display, by NEC?

Okay, okay… So the CRV43 isn’t exactly aimed at Joe Basic Consumer. It’s not even positioned as a TV, gaming accessory, or viewer for video playback. Not necessarily. Instead, NEC says its curved 43″ display (with a ridiculous 2880×990 resolution) is intended for “simulation, digital imaging, and command & control applications.” Which is a fancy way of saying that this thing would work well for board room presentations, as a way to wow convention-goers who visit your booth, or to impress clients of a plastic surgeon.

But for $8,000, the CRV43 ought to be touch screen-sensitive, print money, and open a doorway to Narnia.

Reminds me of the ‘grand canyon’ monitors from a few years back. Even tho it’s quite sexy with the single piece panel, wonder why they went with a 1440 base instead of 1920. If you’re going to spend over 8 grand you’d think you’d get a 1080p solution.

Wow! Now that would look great on my desk, but yeah, I have to agree with Lee. For $8k, I’d expect at least a 3840×1920 resolution.
