Need a Brand Boost? Call in The Beatles

Guitar Hero Aerosmith Neither Guitar Hero nor Rock Band actually need a brand boost.  Both are incredibly popular video games, but nevertheless, the idea of smacking a brand name as big as The Beatles on Rock Band or Guitar Hero games would be nirvana for either EA Games or Activision (the manufacturers of Rock Band and Guitar Hero).

Believe it or not, that’s the buzz – The Beatles might license their brand name and songs to appear in one or both games.  This would be a first for The Beatles brand and would be a big branding coup for Rock Band or Guitar Hero who so far have nabbed licensing deals with other big brands like The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith.

What do you think?  Will The Beatles brand boost Guitar Hero or Rock Band sales?  Would you pay $50 to play Penny Lane via video game?

Both Rock Band and Guitar hero are great examples in which culture and marketing meet. I think both parties can make it a win-win situation. Although I would not suggest the beatles as a good match with video games.
