Here is a post written early in my tenure as a blogger. I thought I would share again as a submission for the upcoming Entreprenuer Carnival over at Startup Spark. Enjoy!

Net Work Ing
By my definition
-
a net is a group of people with various life experiences and perspectives. These people and their perspectives are not necessarily visible to you and I by the naked eye, yet none the less they exist.
I believe that each of us are part of a network of people. Our responsibility first and foremost is to get connected and to stay connected to this net or network of people. When is the last time you remembered the birthday, anniversary, or some other significant event in another person’s life? Did you acknowledge them, or the event? What was your motive behind the acknowledgement? Were you looking for something or were you genuinely wanting to reach out and touch the individual? No need to respond out loud, just chew on it!
-
Work by my definition is just that, WORK!
Do you work to build relationships with others, out of (here’s that word again…) genuine care and concern for them? It takes work to remain married for almost 22 years! (That’s me by the way.) Anyway, it takes work to maintain good, strong, positive work relationships. It takes work to maintain a friendship since high school. (I have been able to do this one too!). Are you getting the picture. I don’t mean to brag, but I want you to know that I am speaking from some relative experience. I will not say that I have figured it all out, but I am WORKing on it!
Ing is all about action! According to Webster
-
ing means a product or result of action or process.
In short in order to have a working net, work for you, you must be willing to put in some sweat equity.
If you are looking for a job and you are relying on your net working for you, you better have invested something before the need arises!

Hi Darlene,
We met at the Trade Show in Laurel (thank you again for sharing your french fries). Your blog website is wonderful, it’s so chock full of useful information. And your bubbly personality shines through in your writing.
I’m responding to your networking topic because my new business venture has thrust me knee deep into the world of marketing and building relationships. I agree, it is a lot of work and you must have the mindset of ‘what can I do for you ?’ vs. / in addition to ‘what can you do for me?’ One aspect of networking that I particularly enjoy is connecting other people if I feel they can assist one another. For example, I have facilititated two email ‘virtual’ introductions of colleagues with the hopes that they can do business together.
I will definately make it a point to visit this site and participate more. Take Care – Stay Blessed
Hi Jacquie,

I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Please feel free to share my blog with others as it seems appropriate.
