Netgear Brings You Broadband in the Wall Socket

Netgear has created the Powerline HD broadband router and adapter which brings broadband connection right to your wall socket. Gone will be the days of annoying cables running across your living room floor. The Powerline HD broadband line plugs right into the wall socket. From there, you simply string a short ethernet cord to your Xbox 360/PC or what have you and voila!
This new technology will set you back $149 each, or $249 for two. To that I say: Ouch. But if you got it to spend it, why not?
While the adapters are convenient for online gaming on the Xbox 360 or other connected machines, they will really shine delivering high-definition video from one part of the house to another.
If anyone gets this, let me know if it’s worth it. Cables are taking over my life.

Can you put a Australian adapter on the American plug and still have it work? (I’m guessing it will be a while before we see it down here!)
What happens if someone “taps” your meter box?
How does the data stop at your house boundary?
I’m sure like any wireless type router it will have some encryption method of protection so other people can’t steal your bandwidth.
Not sure about its worldwide distribution, but if I hear anything about Australia, I’ll keep you posted. :)
