NetPickle Gets VC Funding

There is a new space in Web 2.0 companies that allows folks to create photo slideshows and upload them to their websites. Predominant in this space is NetPickle who operates RockYou.com. NetPickle has recieved $1.5mil in funding from Sequoia Capital.

Photo slideshows like this can be seen at MySpace (off the top of my head). SiliconBeat mentions Xanga and others but I have no experience with those companies.

What I find interesting about this is the thought that bloggers will likely migrate away from the conventional means that we know of now into more multimedia methods. Videocasting, podcasting and other alternate forms of blogging are already here. Photoblogging is also already here. Photo slideshows offer a whole new twist.
