New Barbie Girls Bridge Virtuality Gap via PC
Remember those dreams you used to have when you were little? The ones where your Barbie dolls came alive with a maniacal Valley Girl giggle and proceeded to menace your cowering, sleep-fogged self with their sharp-edged plastic accessories? No? Well you should because it wasn’t just a dream, it was a premonition. Mattel’s new line of dolls, aiming to be a chic re-tooling of a classic brand, may just feature connectivity to your humble PC. BarbieGirls.com appears to be part community venue, allowing visitors to chat with friends (classified as friends, or best friends…ouch on the clique-y-ness), play games, building up a stash of the site’s virtual currency “B Bucks”, and part portal for further branding exercises.
According to 3pointD.com, which poked around at the official website of the new “Barbie Girls”, proud doll owners may be able to buy virtual outfits for your doll’s virtual self, while perhaps also being able to grab a physical set of duds for their clutchable companion. I set about my own adventure in Barbie Girl World, creating an account and an avatar that looked…nothing like me. I didn’t get much further than that though, because my lack of a physical doll prevented me from unlocking the hairstyles that I wanted, and the ‘Tell Me More’ link, which was supposed to explain how a doll would allow me to access more content, didn’t respond to my frantic clicking. From what I could tell, it’s sort of like Second Life meets Habbo Hotel meets reality, in that there seems to be a suggestion of interactivity between the doll that you buy in the store, and the happenings on the computer, and vice versa. The system is currently in beta.
i think in barbie beta all first comers should get at least one code to unlock one thing of there choice like clothes or furniture.
they will not let me in the park or cafe how stupid is that if we want to play let us play!!
they should really let every one every where thier just persuading them to get that toy and some of us dont have the money to get it right now

I paid 70.00 for a barbire girl my daughter played and played haveing so much fun then out of no where a error message flash player 9 is running slowly if you continue to play your computer may run slowly or something to this effect you click yes to abort or no to continue neiter of wich works she cant even get her barbie girl to download the message pops up each time you put the doll on so
whats the point of paying all this money and she cant use the doll foooie for 70.00 i can get her a mp3 player that holds more than 120 songs iv returned the doll and she can play the game fine with the regular barbie girls no error message pops up. I realize this is beta but dont buy that doll unil the bugs are worked out of this game its a waste of money and actualy she hardly plays it now found a game called stardolls she has much more fun with it but yes i have to pay 5.95 for every 50.00 dollars she can spend on items to buy for this doll but she loves it she is only 8 years old and isnt being called names anymore try the game girls its cool she has made friend from sweeden and england and the e- mail each other and yes i do monitor the e-mails to maske sure no one is saying things she shouldnt be hearing but so far much more fun for her no prolems no mean girls saying bad words because se wont give them a barbie girl gif
chris is right it always says adobe 9 flash player doesnt work or whatever but it always happens after a while and your computer will get frozen
