New Command & Conquer FPS in the works?
Here’s a surprise: according to VideoGamesBlogger, a Command & Conquer FPS game is coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The game is called Tiberium, and is said to be set 11 years after the end of the third Tiberium war.
A C&C FPS? This game has to be a sequel to Renegade.
Tiberium is said to be a mix between Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter, Battlefield, and Rainbow Six Vegas. If this were the case, the result would probably have vehicles and tactical elements. Would Tiberium be in first-person or third person? I can’t really say. Perhaps a third-person POV is useful if a cover mechanic would be implemented, and the tactical element would be easier to see because of better peripheral vision.
You’re thrust in the role of Ricardo Vega, a formerly-retired GDI field commander. You’ll be leading a Rapid Assault and Intercept Deployment (or R.A.I.D.), but there are no details if you get to fight the NOD. Since this is a C&C game, expect to command units such as: infantry squads, missile infantry squads, a version of the Titan, and Orcas.
Is this news for real? The blog says the January ‘08 issue of Game Informer has this news as its cover story. You can also have a look at the images in a certain EA forum (links found in one of the lower posts).

Here’s hoping that the next Command & Conquer FPS will be better … and I mean waaaaaaaaaay better than the first foray. I hate seeing a good game go to waste when it shifts genres.
Fortunately, I don’t see that happening to MMORPGs. Just look at Rakion. It made the shift from run-of-the-mill MMOG to FPS MMOG rather smoothly.
I haven’t tried Rakion in weeks. What do you mean by FPS MMOG? You mean the game now has a first-person camera? Did I miss anything since I last played?
Awww, no, my bad. The game still sports a third-person perspective. :p
Now that you mentioned it, how was Rakion like your usual MMOG before it became what it is now?
Was Renegade really that bad?
