New Nintendo DS on the Horizon?

There has been talks floating about the internet that the Nintendo Corporation may be releasing yet ANOTHER version of the Nintendo DS! The new version is going to be called… wait for it… The Nintendo DSi. The “i” portion of the DS is what makes it so dang different and special!

So, what’s so special about special about this new and fancier version of the Nintendo DS? Well, the new DS will have a tiny camera on the back which can be used to take crappy pixilated web cam images with! Also… you get a wider screen, which will be 3.5 inches instead of the current generation DS screen size of about 3 inches. The newer DSi will also be lighter and smaller, but because of this, you will now be missing the GBA port to play your old Gameboy games. Which kind of sucks. But, Nintendo has thought this one through and will offer many GBA games for download to your DSi. Except you’ll probably have to buy them again. The new DS will also allow for playing of music through the built in DSi media player and a place to put a memory card, which is kind of cool if you don’t want to lug around your DS and a mp3 player. And let’s not forget a built in web browser! Now we can surf the web WHEREVER you go! See, now they’re getting smart.

The new DSi is supposed to go on sale in Japan on November 1st for about 18,900 yen, which is about $180. There isn’t any news about when it’s coming to the rest of the world, but there is a big ol’ Nintendo of America press conference going on today and tomorrow, so I’m sure we’ll hear more about it.
