New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

It’s on like Donkey Kong!  Another Nintendo GameCube game has made it onto the “New Play Control!” list.  Donkey Kong Jungle Beat has been optimized for the Wii so that players can trade in their DK Bongos for the Wii Remote and donkey-kong-coverNunchuk.  I was never a fan of those bongos so I am pretty happy about this remake!

Now you’ll be able to really get into the game when DK swings, swims, runs, jumps, punches and backflips his way through the jungle!  He’s one of Nintendo’s most active characters so I’m sure using the Wiimote and Nunchuk will make for very physical gameplay!

From the trailer (see below), it looks like they took the existing environment and built on it to make it more appealing for and compatible with the Wii.  If you’ve never played a Donkey Kong game, now’s the time to try it because this version of the game looks like it combines what we love about the original with the ingenuity of the Wii console.

The plot is very basic.  DK will fight off a group of bad guys who have stolen all of the bananas from the jungle’s inhabitants.  You will have to lead him through a series of adventures and defeat bosses in order to restore order to the land.

Throughout the game, Donkey Kong will use Basic moves, sound-wave attack, punch, combo jump, ground slap, air grab, combo moves and more.  To learn more about it, check out the Donkey Kong’s Wild Moves section on the official website.

Check out the trailer describing the features that have been optimized for the Nintendo Wii.  Of course, you aren’t going to get cutting-edge graphics from this resurrected game but it does still look cool:
