New Reality Show Features Real Firings

I know times are tough and television producers are under pressure to get creative but this is a horrible idea. Fox is reporting that they’ve ordered a one-hour reality series called “Someone’s Gotta Go” featuring true layoffs of real-life employees.
So, this game is like The Apprentice, Survivor and The Office all rolled in one since workers will decide who will be fired. The only catch is that these are real human beings who have true needs. To make matters worse, each episode will take place at a small company of less than 20 employees so it’s going to feel really personal.
I’m going to come right out and call this show dangerous because most programming is trying to distract people from the stresses associated with the economy while this show will only remind people that they might be at risk of losing their job as well. How depressing is that? I don’t see any value to this show and I’m trying to be objective. Everyone, from the low-income to the wealthy are feeling the pinch and most are struggling with a change in their quality of life. How can I possibly tune in to watch someone get told that their means of supporting themselves (and possibly their family) has just been taken from them? I’d end up in a mental hospital if I watched that.
What do you think? Would you watch a show that was all about real people losing their real jobs? Sound off!

If you think about it. On reality shows these guys are usually from successful backgrounds and are looking at getting that dream job or winning 1 million dollars or whatever. Dealing with peoples real lives, real jobs, there is more for them to loose then just a game. They are loosing their livelihood. Fox is treading into dangerous waters by making this show. Soon people are going to look at life as just one big game show.
