New This Week: “Madden NFL 10”

Madden NFL 10 comes out this week and I’ve got to say that it looks pretty amazing! I can remember the first Madden game I ever played back in 1994 and it felt so cool at the time but those pixelated graphics seem incredibly awful.
While the game has mostly been improved in several smaller ways, some of the bigger changes include the ability to have up to nine players involved in tackles, the power to steer tackles and create a better pocket around the quarterback. The ratings system has also been revamped so that the differences between the players is more noticeable and they will include throw accuracy (deep, medium, short and more). The players are also supposed to move more fluidly to make it more realistic (they’ve also added some more “real” touches like QB towels, signature throwing styles, handwarmers, realistic gloves and more).
Up to 32 people game play online and the online franchise will feature real NFL scheduling, live drafts and players will be able to access league message boards through the console, iPhone and web browser.
The soundtrack is pretty great too with music from a wide range of artists from Tupac (“Can’t C Me”) to Nirvana (“Breed”) and Pantera (“Walk”).
I know there are some Madden haters out there and I doubt that there is much that can change their minds but I think this newest version looks and sounds incredibly sweet. Check out the trailer:
