Role Models is the story of two energy drink reps who, after freaking out at a school rally, are sentenced to 150 community service hours mentoring kids. The film stars Paul Rudd (40 Year Old Virgin, I Love You, Man) as uptight, Danny Donahue, who is assigned to mentor Augie Farks (Superbad actor, Christopher Mintz-Plasse), a teenager who is more interested in outdoor role-playing games than he is in “real life.”

Meanwhile, Seann William Scott (American Pie, The Dukes of Hazzard) plays the more optimistic character, Wheeler, who is paired up with Ronnie Shields, one of the most foul-mouthed little kids you’ve ever seen in a movie. As you can predict, despite initially resenting their punishment, Danny and Wheeler start to like spending time with the kids but they make some serious mistakes that can not only cost them their new friendships but could also land them in jail.
The cast is round out by Rudd’s fellow 40 Year Old Virgin cast members, Elizabeth Banks and Jane Lynch. Banks’ character, Beth, is Danny’s love interest while Lynch plays the creepy, predatory middle-aged woman to perfection once again. It’s crude and dirty as you would expect from this cast but is not as good as I would have hoped. Still, it’s worth renting.
