New Vista License Sounds Better

Microsoft softened their rules on Windows Vista License by changing a particular sentence that fueled uproar from everyone concerned on the operating system. The previous line read: The first user of the software may reassign the license to another device one time. If you reassign the license, that other device becomes the ‘licensed device.

The new line read: You may uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You may not do so to share this license between devices.

The changes definitely felt better as enthusiasts tend to change hardwarde at least once a year at the most and limiting the transfer of a Windows Vista software could affect consumers and PC vendors alike. Nick White who is a program manager on Microsoft Vista Team said on their blog: It’s become clear to us that those original terms were perceived as adversely affecting an important group of customers: PC and hardware enthusiasts.

We respect the time and expense you go to in customizing, building, and rebuilding your hardware and we heard you that the previous terms were seen as an impediment to that. It’s for that reason we’ve made this change.

This definitely sounds good and any negative reaction may come from remote narrow-minded individuals, it seems.

See the license here.

Glad they changed it or I would have changed to Linux immediately. I have always held up for MS but not if they put those onerous stipulations into effect.

Provide a link to the source please.

This is bs….This is basically stating that we go out and buy the software but we don’t actually own that software even though we bought it. Its like we’re leasing it from Microsoft. I’ll stay with XP for the new 5 years until they stop releasing updates for it. At least I know that since I bought the software, its mine to do as I wish.

I recently bought a PC and it was pre-installed with Windows Vista Starter which is absolutely useless! I need a better version of Windows that I do not have to pay for!

    Please help . . . anyone
