New York Jets

Coach Eric ManginiEric Mangini is the new coach for the New York Jets and it is a good thing he has a lot of youthful energy.

In USAToday.com it is reported that there is a heavy battle for starting quarterback..ahhh..Sorry, just suppressing a yawn.

“It’s a wide-open opportunity,” coach Eric Mangini said.

Of course, he was speaking about the quarterback position. Having undergone two rotator-cuff surgeries since Feb. 2005, Chad Pennington no longer is considered the Jets’ franchise quarterback. And when training camp is over, he might not be the quarterback, period. Source

The Jets are in for a long year and they weren’t very good last year either.

Special Note The New York Jets were originally called the Titans. They changed their name to the Jets in 1963, when they move to Shea Stadium near LaGuardia Airport and all the sounds of the jets flying overhead.

The really interesting story in New York Jetland is that Eric Mangini is 35 years old. By NFL standards that is very very young.

He was tutored in New England and actually has 11 NFL coaching seasons behind him. He has a bright defensive mind and should serve the Jets well in the long run.

Fan Question Where are you Jets fans? Can Eric make the difference?
