Since 1989, Riddell Sports has produced the official helmets for the National Football League. On Thursday, the NFL and Riddell Sports agreed on an contract extension that will keep Riddell Sports as the official helmet producer for the NFL through the 2014 season.

Dan Arment, Riddell Sports’ president, said that the company will continue to make sure their helmets continue to keep professional football players as safe as possible.

Said Arment: “We are proud and honored to be entering our 20th year as the official helmet of the NFL and look forward to five more years as an official licensee of the preeminent sports organization in America. We have been and continue to be at the forefront of technology and look forward to bringing the best protective equipment to the NFL fields for years to come.”

In addition to helmets, Riddell Sports is also in the business of designing and marketing protective equipment and uniforms used in a variety of sports including football. Originally founded as a footwear company approximately 80 years ago, Riddell Sports recently merged with Easton Sports.
