NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
John Czarnecki writes an excellent column for Fox Sports. Today’s article is called From Orlando to Spokane, I have visited 14 NFL teams and heard many a positive spin on the upcoming season.
Please go there and read it. It is full of information. Here is a review with comments.
1. The Chicago Bears are facing a double whammy. A quarterback controversy AND a running back controversy.
(James take) irrelevant, they win with D. The QB and Running backs are unproven.
2. Reggie Bush should have been the first player taken.
(James take) Bush is awesome. Does seem like they could have traded down for extreme value. Hard to figure.
3. The Bill Cowher retirement story will never die.
(James take) Would be surprised. He is only 49. The fire still burns.
4. The Carolina Panthers might have an offense to match that defense.
(James take) Once again the sexy pick for the Super Bowl is Carolina. Will believe it when it happens and it won’t.
5. The Colts are going to miss Edgerrin James a lot more than they admitting to.
(James take) A no brainer. Every team in the league would love to have this guy. He blocks, runs, and has a great attitude. What is missing?
6. Brett Favre was temporarily insane when declaring this Packers’ team the most talented he’s ever been associated with.
(James take) Who does not like Brett Favre. Raise their hands. Shame on you. He ritually destroys my Lions and yet is still liked by me. This writer does not question anything Brett says.
7. People actually think the Eagles have a chance in the rugged NFC East.
(James take) Until they look up and see the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.
8. Not everyone is buying the Arizona hype.
(James take) There is a little thing called Defense and Arizona has to find it.
9. Kansas City looks like a descending team.
(James take) They should duel the Broncos for the Division.
10. There is absolutely no reason any team should play five preseason games.
(James take) Except us gullible fans will buy tickets and watch on TV.
