NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Rashean Mathis with 2 Picks

Rashean Mathis scoreboards aol comJacksonville had the blitz on Big Ben Roethlisberger late in the game as they survived a test of wills in beating the Steelers in the second game of the season. Josh Scobee kicked 3 field goals in the second half to provide all the scoring in the 9 to nothing victory.

Two late interceptions by Rashean Mathis sealed the victory. The last one gave Jacksonville the ball on the two with under 2 minutes to play. Rashean now has 13 interceptions in the last 3 years. He read the quarterback, jumped the first route, stayed in position on the second route. Two great plays.

Byron Leftwich was 26 of 39 for 260 yards in an impressive performance that has some other NFL Football teams taking notice. Two great home games, a victory against Dallas and a victory against last year’s Super Bowl Champs, is starting to make believers out of the Jag’s ardent fans. The noise at the stadium was huge as Byron knelt down to burn out the final seconds of the victory.

In many ways it was an impossible situation, because… Big Ben surroundedBig Ben Roethlisberger was coming off of an appendectomy only 15 days ago. On his last pass play he got hit in the ribs as he stepped forward to pass. You could visibly see the pain he was feeling. Could part of the pain be the fact that the pass was on fourth down and was not going to be caught?

Jacksonville now goes on the road to play Indianapolis and Washington in an almost unbelievable stretch of tough games to open the season. Their confidence is sky high and will be tested as they go on the road to continue their impressive start.

The Jaguars are built in the mold of their coach the famous linebacker Jack Del Rio. The Jacksonville defense was excellent.

NFL Football Fan Question Now be honest here, with Fred Taylor at running back and Byron Leftwich at quarterback, did you think Jacksonville could be this good?
