Since August is all about fiction, and as part of that, I want to help you find ways to make money with the fiction that you write. So, during the next few weeks, I’ll be posting a series called “niche markets.” Each will focus on one kind of fiction and include links to writer’s guidelines for places that publish short fiction and novels. You can see all of the niche market posts here, in case today’s niche isn’t your cup of tea!

Today, I’ve got markets for people who enjoy writing Christian fiction.
- Lighthouse Christian Publishing
They don’t have tons of information online, so I’d definitely request writer’s guidelines before submitting your work. They prefer email submissions only. You can read the minimal Lighthouse Christian Publishing guidelines for more information.
- Steeple Hill Love Inspired Historical
Steeple Hill is a part of Harlequin, so they’re looking for love stories. At SH, though, they want a wholesome Christian twist about women with “faith-driven lives.” The manuscript should also be historical, and because they sell to the CBA and ABA bookstores, the fiction they select adhere to their guidelines – no alcohol, playing cards, gambling, lying, explicit scatological terms, Halloween celebrations, or magic. Read more info at the Steeple Hill guidelines page.
- Believer’s Bay
This e-zine published Christian fiction and other kinds of fiction writing. That said, it isn’t a non-paying market, so you may want to look elsewhere first. Read full Believer’s Bay guidelines for more information.
- By Faith
By Faith does publish freelance submissions, but not fiction. They are looking for creative non-fiction stories, though, so this may be up your ally – it isn’t a magazine that only publishes sermons and devotionals. Read more about By Faith at their website.
I recommend this site for more Christian markets, including places for writers of fiction.
