Niche social networking

As we continue to look at the world of social networking we need to not forget that there are niche sites that are set up with special interests in mind. Sites have been created for dog lovers and cat lovers to gear heads and stay at home mothers.
Some companies are able to take advantage of this and use this to promote their product. It seems like for every type of interest out there a social networking site has sprung up to cover it. While in some peoples’ minds it dilutes the audience, I see it as an advantage in your viral marketing plan. It creates a spot where you can market to people that you know are going to be receptive to your product.
One site that is a niche site is sportsgist.com a site built around the world of sports.
I am going to start keeping a list of these niche sites as I come across them here.
