Nick Adenhart, the pitcher for the Los Angeles Angles who was tragically killed by a drunk driver earlier in the season, is being remembered by the Angels. Each year from now on, the Angels will give the Nick Adenhart Pitcher of the Year award to the team’s best pitcher.
The winner of the award will be selected by members of the Angels and will be based on which pitcher was the most outstanding.
Adenhart was killed on April 9th shortly after pitching the best game of his big league career. In six innings, he scattered seven hits and three walks while striking out five batters and giving up no runs. It was only the fourth start of his MLB career.
Andrew Gallo, the man behind the wheel of the vehicle that killed Adenhart and two others, has been charged with three counts of murder. He remains behind bars awaiting trial.
