Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian will be opening today and it will have stiff competition. Not only is Terminator Salvation also hitting the big screen today but there are still people going to see Star Trek and Angels and Demons. Of course, it’s probably the best option for a “family flick” right now so it should get some decent numbers.
In this sequel to Night at the Museum, Ben Stiller reprises his role as security guard, Larry Daley. The Museum of Natural History is undergoing renovations the prized artefacts and pieces are moved to the federal storage at the Washington Museums. For the first time ever, a film was allowed to be filmed inside of the Smithsonian which houses more than 136 million items in its collections which will play a major role in the film. For example, the Smithsonian is the home of the plane flown by Amelia Earhart on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic. Earhart (played by Amy Adams) becomes Larry’s love interest and, together, they work to try to restore order to the museum after things get incredibly chaotic.
The cast is rounded out by Owen Wilson (Jedediah Smith), Hank Azaria (Kahmunrah/The Thinker/Abe Lincoln), Robin Williams (Teddy Roosevelt), Ricky Gervais (Dr. McPhee) and more.
I think that I will definitely see this since I’m sure that, at least, one of my children is going to want to watch it. I’m not sure it’s going to be better than the first one and I’m definitely hoping it will be better than the video game looks! Check out the trailer:
