Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

Um… I try to be objective and professional when I write posts about video games but I’m having a hard time  today.  This week the Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian video game was released and judging from the trailer (and the comments underneath the trailer on YouTube), I would just like to say that I hope the movie is better than this game looks.

I know the economy is bad right now but I’d almost rather not release a game than to put something out that has the kind of graphics you’d expect to find about a decade ago on a PC game.  I’m almost embarrassed for the developers.

The game will be available for the Nintendo DS, Wii and Xbox 360.  Ben Stiller actually lent his voice and likeness in an attempt to provide a more “authentic” experience for players but I really think they should have made an effort to improve the quality of the actual gameplay which basically involves walking around the museum and interacting with/battling historical figures like Al Capone and Napoleon Bonaparte.
