Nintendo DS & DS Lite Go High-Speed Wireless in Tokyo

The introduction of an Opera web browser for Nintendo DS and DS Lite is simply not enough for the Japanese. Livedoor company in Japan gives Nintendo handheld users living in Tokyo to try out their livedoor Wireless service. Gamers can access the web or having high-speed surfing anywhere with their DS or DS Lite in Tokyo.

Something about this livedoor Wireless service…

  • 2200 hotspots in Tokyo (almost the whole Tokyo is covered)
  • 802.11g/802.11b wireless LAN of DS and DS Lite will hit 54Mbps theoretically
  • 3 months of free trial (4th August to 31st October)
  • If users are happy with this wireless service, they can pay 525 Yen ($4.60) per month to use the service after the free trial period

This move makes good business sense and I’m sure this service will be introduced to the whole Japan in no time. Meanwhile, I’m content that I can link up my Sky Blue DS Lite to play Mario Kart in my home toilet.
