Nintendo DS Lite Launch Next Week in Taiwan

The Nintendo DS Lite that gets a lot of media attention is going to launch in Taiwan next week. Here is a list of what you can expect from a Taiwan package…
- Colours available: Crystal white, Ice blue and Enamel Navy
- DS Lite main console x 1
- Charger x 1 (the charger only supports 110V and you need a voltage transformer to use the charger in Taiwan)
- Stylus x 2
- Strap x 1
- GBA Protective Box x 1
- Chinese manual x 1
Exact pricing is not available yet.
To recap, the DS Lite is smaller, lighter, with 4 levels of brightness adjustment and making waves around the world. Ho Hum.

I regularly visit a lot of games stores here in Taipei. There is no shop (not a single one) that doesn’t already have a stock of DS Lites.

Hi Patrick, no I don’t. I bought a DS fat about a year ago here, and last week I went with my gf to buy one for her. She held and tried the Lite, but didn’t like the look of it. Also, she thought the plastic had a bit of a greasy feel to it.
So with all the Lite-mania everywhere, we just bought another fat one :)
How much is the DS Lite in Taiwan, Michiel?
They are Japan imports, prices are around 5500NTD (varies a bit), so that’s about 170USD.
But with over three months between Japan and Taiwan release I think all those who really want it have already bought it.
Three months is a really large gap, considering that almost everything you buy here isn’t a “Chinese release”, but imported from Japan. I have yet to find a games shop that has Chinese language games. Also, the package you mentioned above isn’t any different from the Japanese one, except for the Chinese manual and that the DS unit has a Chinese boot-screen.
Why would they wait so long with releasing it here, when Taiwan and Japan are so close to each other? It’s not like they don’t know everything they release in Japan will be available in Taiwan the next day.
Same as Singapore, MIchiel. As chinese says…太晚了.
When will these new colors arrive in the U.S.? Will they? Or not?
Melissa: Actually the colours are the same as the original 3…enamel navy, white and sky blue, the names are just different.
What do you Recoomend for a ten year old girl other than Coral pink that could be bought used?
