Nintendo Introduces Wii Gift Shop Feature

Nintendo is always on the ball with interesting new ideas, and as they sat in their evil lair planning their eventual take-over of the entire game world, they came up with a new idea: a Wii gift shop.
With the holidays coming up, timing couldn’t be better. If you’re a fan of the Wii and want to give a Wii-related gift to another Wii-lover, Nintendo will soon make it super easy for you. The Wii gift shop allows you to purchase gifts through the Wii shop. The recipient will get an alert, and start downloading instantly.
Think of all the trees you’ll save by not having to gift wrap.
“We think this will be a breakthrough in encouraging customers to spread news of fun games [other than by?] word of mouth,” Iwata said of the new feature, which has no release date yet. “We also hope to spur more users to connect their Wiis to the Internet.”
This is definitely a step in the right direction if Nintendo is wishing to make the Wii a leader in the online gaming arena, but I doubt it’s going to be enough.
What do you think about this new idea?
