Nissan’s Latest Car – The Cube

Perhaps one of the most interesting cars at the 2009 Calgary Auto Show was the Nissan Cube. The body of the car is so small, but because of its cube like shape the interior is surprisingly roomy. The Cube is already in its third generation phase as it has been a popular vehicle in Japan.

The latest upgrades are hoping to make this compact car appealing to North American consumers. The Cube will include a 6 speed static automatic transmission and a powerful 1.8L 14 MR 18DE. The transmission is especially unique because it does not have gears. It drives by the same principle as a snowmobile. A belt changes position smoothly as speeds are accelerating. This also means that the Cube won’t have any annoying jumps every time the car switches gears.

The only holdback I had on the Nissan Cube was its appearance. The strange green of the model I saw was awful and the shape of the car will draw some attention. But if you like to stand out in the crowd get the Nissan Cube hi red.
