No Cutler, my Lions need a quarterback

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Beware; the Squibster is in rant mode. You have been warned.
No Jay Cutler. No, we let him go to the Bears. They gave up too much everyone hollers! Well, that is odd, because now they have a quarterback and everyone is handing them the division. Guess what, when you win the division, you get to go to the playoffs. Ok, ok, it is true that as a Lions fan, going to the playoffs is not understandable, but teams do it!
So what if they gave up too much. The Bears have a quarterback and my hapless Lions are, well…hapless.
Now there is a mock draft out there having the Lions take Rhett Bomar, former Oklahoma quarterback, from Sam Houston State. What????
The Lions will take Baylor OT Jason Smith, not Georgia QB Matthew Stafford, in this month’s NFL Draft, according to National Football Post’s latest Mock Draft. The projections do have the Lions drafting a quarterback though – former Sam Houston St. and Oklahoma gunslinger Rhett Bomar.
Stafford isn’t projected to be selected until the No. 10 overall selection (San Francisco). Quickly rising QB Mark Sanchez, on the other hand, is slated to go No. 4 overall to Seattle.

Rhett throws off his helmet just thinking of the Lions
So let me think if this line of reasoning makes sense. The Lions did not get Cutler, because they thought it was too much to give up, so we let arch rival Chicago have him. Cutler was not worth it because he only went to the Pro Bowl? Huh?
Now we don’t want to draft Stafford, because it would be taking a chance, and we don’t want to take any chances? Like the Lions could be worse? Didn’t they lose all of their games? Count them, All. Geez, don’t take any chances when you are 0 – 16.
Now the solution will be found in the third round, late in the third round? What? What happened to wheeling and dealing for Sanchez or Freeman, if Stafford somehow does not fit the bill?
And what happens to all of you Lions fans out there that want a tackle, if he turns out to be Robert Gallery the second or Big Tony Mandarich 2. Did you ever think of that?
