No Doubt Is Suing Over “Band Hero”

A lot of people were excited when Band Hero was released earlier this month but I’m guessing No Doubt isn’t among them.  According to reports, the band is suing Activision Blizzard over the use of their likeness in the game.

Apparently, they feel that they’ve been turned into a virtual karaoke act.  Their argument is that, while they allowed Activision to use their likeness, they felt that the company “went beyond the agreement by allowing gamers to use avatars of the band performing songs from other rock groups.”

I do, however, understand some aspects of their complaint.  Gwen Stefani can be used to sing the Rolling Stones song “Honky Tonk Women” which is less than desirable since, as the lawsuit states, it “results in an unauthorized performance by the Gwen Stefani avatar in a male voice boasting about having sex with prostitutes.”

Yeah… I can see how that wouldn’t be cool.
