Here’s the ad, I believe it speaks for itself:
“Can’t write? That’s OK! We need reporters who get the information, and get it right. We’re a print publication with a web site, about to start a major project that involves public records, research and some interviews.
“Please send resume.”
What we have here is oxymoronic assery. They don’t mind if you can’t write yet they expect you to get it right. Well which is it? Did this guy read the ad before hitting enter? He’s looking to start a major project, one requiring serious research, yet writing ability isn’t such a big issue.
Well, research and writing skills aren’t really that closely related; a lot of good researchers are crappy writers and v.v. That said, I have this odd feeling they won’t pay much….
