No Job? Why Not Start Your Small Business?

If you’ve had an idea for a small business floating around in your head for a while, and you find yourself  unemployed, why not work on that idea with your free time? When you’re not beating the streets looking for another job, sit down and map out your ideas on paper. Then if it’s possible, start working toward making your small business a reality. unemployed1

You can at least come up with a business plan, and some goals for your small business ideas. Work on whatever you can now to get your business started without spending money you can’t spare. There are many small business ideas that can be started on a shoestring budget.

I’ve already shared some free ways to promote your small business online. There are also many free and low cost ways to market your business locally offline. If you can work from home to start, do it. You can always find another location later, once your business gets going.

One of the most frightening things about starting your own business is giving up that regular paycheck. If you’ve already been forced to give up that security, you’ve got nothing to lose, but the time and effort you put into giving your new business idea a try. Why not go for it?

Just think about how it would feel to be in charge of your own destiny? Many small businesses can be started as solo operations, with very little overhead. Wouldn’t it feel good to work hard for yourself, instead of someone else?

Many people out of work are taking the route of starting a small business because the Internet makes it easier than ever to create a product and advertise for dirt cheap or even free.

  2. I definitely think that this is a good idea. Instead of letting others decide your destiny, why don’t you take hold of it yourself? If you don’t think that you have the skills and abilities to do it on your own, find a partner or hire a consultant to help. It’s always better to work hard and fail then to not work at all.

Many people are starting small businesses online because it’s much cheaper to advertise with articles and video sites like Adwido.

  1. [...] Sparkplugging talks about taking that leap from employee to entrepreneur. What are you waiting for? Especially if you’re unemployed, like I said the other day, now is a great time to start that small business. [...]
