No support for EFI booting

Apple logoBad news for Apple-lovers today; Microsoft revealed that it will not support EFI booting for Windows Vista. This will be a shock for owners of Intel Macs who had hoped they would be able to dual-boot between Windows Vista and OS X (Intel Macs only support booting via EFI). Microsoft’s development manager, Andrew Ritz, also revealed that there will never be any support for booting Windows via EFI on systems with 32-bit processors. Longhorn Server might be the first version of Windows that will support EFI (via apcmag.com).

Sure, no efi support. The intel macs can still boot from a windows install cd and install vista. I know cuz I am running vista natively on my mac mini. I completely erased the hard drive and removed osx just to find out if I could boot to windows directly. And guess what, I could! There are a few tricks I had to do to get this to work. Also to get rid of the file folder with question mark icon during boot. I have figured out how to get that off as well as the apple startup sound. Now I am running vista on my mac mini for about 3 weeks now without any problems.

  1. [...] [...]
