No Way Out Results, Surprises
Well WWE went a totally opposite direction with last night’s No Way Out PPV but it turned out to be pretty darn good. Here are the results first and then I’ll discuss them a bit later in the post:
- WWE Champion John Cena & HBK def. World Heavyweight Champion Batista & Undertaker
- Mr. Kennedy def. ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley (DQ)
- WWE Tag Team Championship: Brian London and Paul Kendrick def. Deuce & Domino
- Chavo Guerrero wins Cruiserweight Open (new champion)
- Kane def. King Booker
- Diva Talent Invitational: Ashley wins
- Finlay & Little Bastard def. Boogeyman & Little Boogeyman
- Chris Benoit & The Hardys def. MNM & MVP
Obviously a few things in there were rather shocking. First I was totally caught off gaurd by Chavo Guerrero winning the Cruiserweight title because he had never really wrestled as a cruiserweight in recent times so for him to just be thrown in and win was a total shock. Perhaps they wanted to bring interest back to the belt leading up to Wrestlemania. Alot, and I mean alot of my predictions were off.
I called a Finaly jab to Boogeyman but that didn’t happen. I thought MNM would top The Hardys but the Hardys came out on top. I got the Lashley call right in a round about way. I knew he would retain, let me say that, because even though I said he’d win I was in essence calling that he would retain the belt. It was good that they didn’t make Kennedy lose because he is one of their up and coming headliners. Basically the only match I got right was the Lashley match.
So where is WWE heading now? Well I think that Deuce & Domino will stay involved in the chase for the tag titles and perhaps a 4-team+ match for them will be set up at wrestlemania. Perhaps that would be a good time to do the ladder rematch that they canceled for No Way Out. I think the biggest things to come out of this are the resurgence of the Cruiserweight title and the tag team championship. Other than that the matches probably don’t mean a whole lot but may aid in forming more wrestlemania storylines.
