Noah Wyle Returns in Spielberg Show

Steven Spielberg is creating a sci-fi series which will air on the TNT network.  I hadn’t heard about this project before but after learning that Dreamworks Television is producing it along with Robert Rodat, my interest immediately increased.  Noah Wyle

Spielberg and Rodat have worked before on the Oscar-nominated movie, Saving Private Ryan, so it’s clear that they work pretty well together.

Variety is reporting that Noah Wyle has been cast in the lead role as “the leader of a rag-tag group of soldiers and civilians as they struggle against an occupying alien force.”  Somehow, I see that working perfectly.  I really adored Wyle on ER and was saddened when his character, John Carter, left the show.  If you ever watched the show, you might remember the season when he and Luka Kovac (Goran Visnjic) went to Africa for Doctors Without Borders (or something similar).  They got into trouble and were taken captive and John showed real leadership and survival skills.

I think that Wyle could bring that kind of intensity to this new Spielberg show and I’m really looking forward to it.  There are no details about the name or premiere date of the series.
