Nokia Becomes a Laptop Maker

Nokia is about to become more than just a cell phone manufacturer. The Booklet 3G is the name of Nokia’s first mini-laptop, a netbook with a 10″ widescreen, HD display inside an aluminum frame. The Booklet 3G weighs just 2.75 pounds and measures a little more than three-quarters of an inch thick.

The Intel Atom-powered Booklet reportedly has 12 hours of battery life, and will provide users with multiple options for connecting to the Net, including standard Wifi, 3G, Bluetooth, and built-in GPS. There’s an HDMI port for HD video out, a built-in webchat video, and an SD card reader.

The GPS works in conjunction with Nokia’s Ovi Maps gadget to add extra functionality to your positioning needs. Other Ovi experiences are built in as well, including the Novia Music Store and the Ovi Suite for syncing with your smartphone.

The Booklet will run on Windows software, though Nokia isn’t releasing any details on that — as well as full system specs, pricing, and availability — until Nokia World on September 2.

It looks like another nifty mini-book. Love the fact that it’s got 12 hours of battery life along standard WiFi and Bluetooth. It’ll definitely be an option for those folks who travel for work.
