Nokia, Symbian and Mobile Internet

Everybody knows about Nokia that has taken control of Symbian - the UK-based software company developer of Symbian - a popular operating system for smart phones.

But what will Nokia do with it?

Nokia plans make available for free the computer code of the Symbian and its code behind the S60, Nokia’s user interface for smartphones through a foundation called the - Symbian Foundation.

Will this be the start of a war on who will dominate the mobile Internet?

There are thoes who believe that because there will no longer be royalty paid this will bring down the cost of phones.

Hmm … hopefully this will increase ease of use in terms of getting and syndicating information for the mobile Internet.
