Not Your Papa’s Zamboni

Mike Comrie made a move smoothah-than-a-post-Zamboni ice rink last week. The NHL-er, who just signed with the New York Islanders, surprised Hilary Duff with a modest token of appreciation when she blew out candles for the big 2-0 last week. Season tickets to the Islanders? Nope—too little people-ish, probably. A little bling for the ears and neck? Pfftt—hardly. A romantic getaway in Paris? Hey, don’t insult the guy! Who do you think he is, Scrooge?

Here’s a hint: It rhymes with Bercedes-Menz.

Yes, Hilary Duff was gifted (and decidedly not regifted) with a Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV. The bargain basement price: $100K+. The clever packaging: A big red bow. No word as to whether it was tied or one of those stick-on types.

The just-a-tad-showy display of wealth comes after two rock solid months of couplehood. We here at Gossip on Sports wish Mike and Hilary a long and happy relationship, if only so that future gifts will provide delicious blog fodder. Anyone venture a guess as to what he’ll do for her 21^st?
