China is still getting used to some of the finer points of capitalism as they abandon their permanent revolution, like marketing. You see, the Chinese government wants to start hyping the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics. Their best idea, have two students from the Beijing Sport University swim across various bodies of water. (Don’t laugh, Beijing Sport University student-athletes go to more real classes than Buckeyes.) They kicked-off their campaign in New Zealand yesterday by swimming from some place in New Zealand to some other place in New Zealand. There were probably hobbits involved, but one can’t be sure. Anyways, the one saving grace of this campaign is its name. In Chinese it’s Weixiao Ying Aoyun, Lianjie Wudazhou. In English, Smiling Welcome Beijing Olympic and Crossing Five Continents. That’s right, Smiling Welcome Beijing Olympic and Crossing Five Continents. Updates will be featured on the Super Terrific Happy Hour.
