As the Adobe AIR technology is making some buzz over the web, AOL adapted the technology and offers a new Xdrive® Desktop Lite beta. Running with Adobe AIR, Xdrive now allows easy file management directly to your Xdrive accounts. And since, Adobe AIR platform supports Windows and Mac, both system now can interact to their Xdrive accounts directly with features like:
- Set up new folders to organize those pictures of your kids and friends.
- Make extra copies of those tax documents.
- Upload your music files so they’re available to you from anywhere, no more CD cases.
With this more robust and interactive web application over desktop, AOL is just making the right move of delivering a more Web 2.0 AOL service.

Xdrive consumers are currently encountering issues when using the Send a file feature in the Web Interface (legacy) application and yes even in the New release of the Xdrive Desktop Lite – Beta application.
I’ve yet to test the Send a file feature using the Xdrive Desktop (legacy) application V161 but I do know that consumers are still reporting issues with the CompleteLog.txt file running continuously and Error Code 1638 during backups which states that an upgrade to V161 is required yet consumers are already running the new release V161.
The new Xdrive Desktop (legacy) application V162 has just been released tonight. I do not know what issues they addressed and resolved in this release of the Xdrive Desktop (legacy) application but let’s hope that it addresses the backup issues and the CompleteLog.txt files that runs continuously.

I’ll point posters from dev.aol.com to these comments.
