Now In Theaters: “Fast & Furious”

Fast & Furious hits theaters today and, if you are scratching your head thinking this movie came out years ago, then you are probably not alone (and I’m guessing you haven’t seen the previews).

This film is the fourth installment in the franchise but, thankfully, it brings back the characters from the original film (with a similar name), The Fast and the Furious (2001).  In this movie, fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) is reunited with agent Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and it’s bound to be ugly.  If you remember from the first film, Brian was an undercover cop pretending to be a racer.  Obviously, things took a turn for the worse when the truth was revealed.  Now, they must put aside their feud long enough to fight a common enemy from behind the wheel.

Along with Diesel and Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster are reprising their roles (what else do they have to do?).  Han (Sung Kang) from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) will also make an appearance.

The cast is rounded out by John Ortiz (Campos), Laz Alonso (Fenix Rise), Gal Gadot (Gisele Harabo), Jack Conley (Penning), Lil Wayne (Alex), T-Pain (Johnny), Xzibit (Danny), T.I. (Troy), Don Omar (Rico) and Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pierce), who was also in 2 Fast, 2 Furious (2003).

I’m pretty excited.  I hated 2 Fast and Tokyo Drift so I’m hoping that they can recapture some of the magic from the first one.  If it’s done right, the dynamics between Dom and Brian could be amazing and could create some opportunities for amazing driving stunts so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.   The trailer looks hot – check it out:
