Now on DVD: “The Unborn”

I’m easily scared by movies but the previews for The Unborn really didn’t do much for me.  Apparently, it didn’t thrill critics either since I’ve read mostly negative reviews and Rotten Tomatoes gave it 12%.  It’s too bad because it’s written by David Goyer who did a good enough job with Batman Begins and Blade: Trinity but this just falls flat.  Still, you might be in the mood for a horror flick so, if there’s nothing else at the video store, you could pick up a copy.

The plot is pretty predictable, especially if you have seen the trailer.  The evil spirit of a dead person couldn’t get into heaven so it’s just been hanging out between worlds waiting to take over some poor person’s body.

The cast is fairly decent although I wish Gary Oldman wasn’t associated with it.  He’s such a good actor but maybe he promised Goyer after they worked together on Batman Begins.  Viewers might also recognize up-and-comers Odette Yustman (Cloverfield) and Cam Gigandet (Twilight).
