The Code came out on DVD this week but don’t be confused if you can’t find information about it. The film is listed in IMDb as Thick as Thieves. So does Wikipedia. Yet Amazon and Rotten Tomatoes list it as The Code. I know that movies get name changes all the time but this is a little ridiculous.
In the film, Morgan Freeman plays Keith Ripley, a veteran art thief who invites younger crook, Gabriel Martin (Antonio Banderas) to team up with him. Ripley is in debt to the Russian mob and needs help on this one last job to repay them. What he doesn’t know is that Martin is actually an undercover cop with plans to bring Ripley down.
This movie didn’t even make it to theatres so if you heard about it and wanted to see it, you can now rent it or buy it.
I think it’s a little sad that these two fine actors felt the need to even make this film since, even from the storyline, it’s clear that this is not a great movie. I know times are tough and their careers have been on a downward slope recently but making this type of movie isn’t going to make that any better.
