Now Playing “The Hurt Locker”

The Hurt Locker looks like a far more interesting film than the name suggests. The plot follows the technicians of the bomb squad and is based on what journalist/screenwriter, Mark Boal, actually saw when he was among the special bomb squad in Iraq. I cannot imagine how intense watching this film will be since my heart was pounding just watching the trailer.
The actual story revolves around three members of the Army’s elite Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad as they volunteer to make their environment a safer place by seeking out and disarming roadside bombs. Each of the three have a different way of doing things so they do butt heads. Of course, they are also trying to stay sane in war-torn Baghdad.
There are so many layers to this type of movie – the lives of the civilians, the emotional health of the soldiers, the weather, the isolation and the fear. So far, critics have had high praise for the film (Rotten Tomatoes gave it 96%). Watch the trailer:
