Now Playing: NBA 2K8 lag causes shoddy defense

Defending as Nash is hard enough. Lag makes it impossible.

I’ve lost every PSN match in NBA 2K8 because of terrible lag, which is a shame because that’s where the game’s longevity lies. Aside from one-on-one matches with visiting friends, 2K8’s multiplayer was quite a disappointment for me.

Defending becomes tougher than studying quantum physics because of a two-second delay when pressing any buttons on the Sixaxis. Executing offense is somehow easier, thanks to memorization of how plays go. Unfortunately, defense has always been more important in basketball.

I was in limbo, at least until I met fellow 2K8 fans based in our shores.

I’ve recently joined a local league from the PinoyPSX forums, but I’ve yet to play with an opponent. Since we’re all based in one country, I expect lag to be minimized if not eliminated. The only tricky part is scheduling the matches because as you know, there’s this thing called Real LifeTM that gets in the way.

Here’s to no lag and tough defense.
