Now serving…

For everyone as excited as I am about the final release of Office 2007, we’re going to have to wait a little longer.

Microsoft announced that we’ll be waiting until early next year instead of later this fall for the next version of Office.

I don’t fault Microsoft for this, they’re stating that with the amounts of feedback from beta users, they’ve found various items that they want to be sure and nail down before releasing as a final. I applaud them for this idea.

The large number of people particpating in the Beta 2 test might have led to the discovery of the performance issues. Gartner analyst Michael Silver said Microsoft was apparently surprised by the number of Office 2007 beta downloads.

I know visitors to this blog have been very active in identifying various problems with the products, the majority of which seem to be centered around Outlook. Given the crucial aspect of e-mail in today’s economy and businesses, getting this right should have utmost priority in my opinion.
