Oakland passes on Crabtree

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
What is it with Al Davis and the Raiders? Are they just there for entertainment value? Are they disappointed that the Lions did not screw up so they took their place? Just what is it with the Raiders?
Michael Crabtree set all kinds of records for touchdowns, receptions, yards, bling, etc at the UT, but he hurts his foot or something and does not run the 40 at the combines. The man is on crutches, what is he supposed to do. Still most draft experts had him in the top 10 and many had him in the top 5.
Wow, Michael Crabtree not only got drafted in the NFL, but got to talk to Erin Andrews, too!
None of that matters to Al Davis. He loves speed. Speed, speed, and more speed, so he just drafts the fastest receiver in Maryland’s Darrius Heyward-Bey. Bey was supposed to go much later in the first round or maybe high in the second round. The pick surprised everyone.
The 49ers are thrilled to have Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree, their 10th overall pick after the Raiders stunned many by taking Maryland’s Darrius Heyward-Bey three spots earlier.
In a conference call with SF reporters, Crabtree said he didn’t mind getting passed by the Raiders.
“Not at all,” Crabtree said. “The Raiders picked who they wanted. The 49ers picked who they wanted.”
Niners coach Mike Singletary didn’t act surprised to see the Raiders do what they did.
“When you look at Al Davis, Al Davis has been very true to what he’s been all along,” Singletary said. “And he loves speed, he loves size and that’s what he went with.”
So much for giving the Raiders the 7th pick!
