Obama Versus McCain: Raising Wages
Senators John McCain and Barack Obama actually agree on something: there aren’t enough American jobs with high wages. While that may sound like nothing more than campaign speeches, both candidates are discussing their plans to solve the stagnation of American wages.
Their plans are very different, of course. McCain’s plan involves cutting taxes on businesses in order to encourage them to offer more jobs and raise wages. Obama’s plan focuses on using government investments to create jobs.
I’m not necessarily against either plan. Both candidates are planning to create higher paying jobs by indirect means: they want to improve conditions in American businesses. As a small business owner, I can’t help but like a plan that makes my life a little easier.
Of course, to get Obama’s help, I need to work in an industry that the government will invest in. The main candidate these days are alternative and renewable energy sources.
