Millions of people are converging onto the city of Washington DC for the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States. It’s a watershed moment – we all remember where we were at the end of Apartheid, the day the Berlin Wall came down, and, we’ll all remember where we were when President Obama was sworn in.
Nadia Nascimento, the head of Vancouver’s User Generated Video Contest Platform, memelabs, is in Washington DC for Obama’s inauguration. "I realized that we were part of a story." Nascimento came up with the plan to record users hopes dreams and allowing them to record for prosperity where they were, at noon on January 20th, 2009.
Here are some of the videos already uploaded, taken by Nadia, while in DC. This was my favourite from Japan:
Memelabs partnered with The Young and Powerful Group, Farmstead Wines, and JCM Entertainment to produce the campaign, which is a completely goodwill project. The four organizations have donated their resources, and there is no financial benefit or cost of participation.

Being in DC now, with under 12 hours to go until Obama is inaugurated, I am blessed to be witness to these stories. This is the most honest, and human gathering that I have ever seen.
Thanks for the post! Looking forward to seeing some amazing stories come in to the memelabs site! From wherever you are- we are all apart of this history.
I excitedly watched the inauguration from my home. Today I am so proud to be an American! Here’s my blog post it -

I watched a huge chunk of the inauguration in my home near Tampa, Florida, via cnn.com! My mother missed it, since she slept because of her overnight shift. I was elated that day not only because the person I voted for came into office, but I was overjoyed when America ushered in its first-ever Catholic Vice-President! It felt like Christmas all over again because my vote really counted!
Colleen, in that first video there is a wall painting of the Obama logo, with dripping red paint at the bottom. Is that located somewhere in DC? I’d like to photograph it myself.
Thanks
I played hookey from work and was on top of my boss at his ski house… I’ll never forget :)
